Hi everyone. I'm playing along with another group of crafting friends, meeting up once a month. We had our first session on Sept. 30th and it was all about using embossing folders. I have lots, but rarely remember to pull them out.
It was a lot of fun and we all got some samples done and have made some into cards. We are all sharing our finished cards today, so check below for links to the other girl's blogs. I hope you'll take a look. I know you'll be inspired!
For the card above, the technique was double embossing. I had never done this before. It's so easy and the results are awesome! First I dry embossed white card stock with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder. I then took the dry embossed card stock and placed it into a second embossing folder, Layered Leaves (both are 3D folders from Stampin' Up!). I love the design I got with the woodgrain planks in the background and the leaves in the foreground. So cool! The card front was sponged with Antique Linen distress ink to highlight the embossed design.
I cut a flower die that was a gift from a sweet friend. I watercoloured the leaves in shades of brown; the flower petals in red with brown in the center and sponged brown on the outer edges. I used the same brown marker to add details to the center of the two flowers and finished with a brown half pearl. The sentiment is stamped in the same brown and then restamped in red. The colour works perfectly with the flower!
Close-up ...
The next card is a bit of a surprise. At least I was surprised making it. The dry embossed panel is made from toilet paper! Four layers held together with a light spritz of water and then embossed with a leaves folder (Spring Leaves - retired - Elizabeth Craft Designs). I love how it looks like handmade paper. I tore the edges to create a square, adding a die-cut leaf sprig (Little Leaves die - retired - Sizzix for SU!) on top that is watercoloured with bright green ink and coated with glass bead gel. It's backed with black card stock to add some contrast with a white heat embossed sentiment.
For my last card, I dry embossed a piece of silver foil card stock and then added drips of three colours of alcohol inks. I used blending solution to thin out the inks so they would flow down the card. I always use a piece of aluminum foil to protect my work surface and catch any extra ink. I also wear vinyl gloves, and used my fingers to pick up some extra ink off the foil and press it onto my card stock. Worked great ... and then I'll use the aluminum foil to make a card as well! :)
I used my favourite combination of alcohol inks for this (all Ranger); Wild Plum, Sunset Orange, Sunshine Yellow. I added a black die-cut of Flower Flourish (from Penny Black) and stamped my sentiment (Noveau Flowers - retired- Clearly Besotted at the bottom. The panel is popped up on foam to add a bit of dimension.Hope you enjoyed my embossing folder cards. It was fun to learn new ways to use my EFs.

Wow...Love all three of your cards using EB folder techniques, Lolly. I have a background using toilet paper and another using paper towels....love how they look like homemade paper. You have me inspired to finish them into textured cards. It is so fun to see and hear our crafty friends on Zoom. I think more crafters are doing that now:-) I have never done the double EB with folders either. Sure want to try in the future. Your Alcohol ink of foil cardstock..another never tried technique that is on my to do list. TFS my friend and always inspiring me. Love and Hugs...
What a great trio of cards Loll. I'm intrigued by how you managed to emboss the embossed panel without loosing definition. What would we do without the internet! :)
Such beautiful cards Loll - love your water colored flowers over the double embossing - what great depth of color! The TP card really looks like homemade paper with the torn edge - and your AI's are gorgeous on the embossed metallic paper - how fun is this to learn these techniques to use our 'stuff'! xx
Three beautiful cards, Loll! I absolutely love the deep red flowers, with brown leaves, over the double embossed BG. The leaves and woodgrain were a wonderful combination! Those pretty green leaves really pop on the white toilet paper/embossed piece! Another technique I've never tried. The last card is really neat, with the alcohol inks on the silver cardstock. You and Nancy are really inspiring me to try some new things!
Three BEAUTIFUL cards Loll! Your 1st card with the double embossing is so pretty and I'm loving the bright and bold flower against it! And your tp card is just beautiful too! It totally makes me smile when I think about it being made from tp, but who knew something like that could end up so lovely?!! Your foil card with the dripped colors is AMAZING and that's the one technique that I haven't tried yet (no foil other than tinfoil!), but will have to rectify that soon! Lovely, lovely cards my friend and can't wait to ZOOM again! Hope all is well...has Jessie had her surgery yet? If she has, I hope it went well!! Hugs. :0)
Fabulous group! Fabulous cards, Loll!!
Have you heard? There's another new challenge in town!

Love your double embossing with that gorgeous, richly colored flower, Loll! Great idea to tear the embossed toilet paper. It does look like handmade paper. The embossed and inked piece is beautiful! Something I need to try out! Everybody did great with these techniques! You're a great teacher, my friend!
What gorgeous cards and fantastic ways of using dry embossing Loll. The layered toilet roll is definitely one I want to try and the first with two different embossed looks used together and brushed with ink to pick up the texture looks great, and the AIs over the embossed silver foil is so bright and beautiful, and three gorgeous floral/leaves die cuts so prettily coloured in the case of the first two, over the top. x
Wow, 3 great cards and 3 great techniques. I love the double embossed card. I have both of those EF and will have to give it a try. The pretty flower die cut really stands out against the background. Very interesting technique with the toilet tissue, will have to try that also. Love the foil alcohol inked piece. Thanks for sharing all these lovely cards.
Holy Moly, Loll! These are fantastic techniques and beautiful cards -- what a showcase!
These are all beautiful, Loll. They all turned out so well. Tearing the toilet paper piece makes it look even more like handmade paper. The one on the silver foil cs is gorgeous - beautiful colours.
all your cards are beautiful Loll, so much inspiration I can't pick a favourite they're all so amazing :)
Oh my gosh, Loll...you've done an amazing job with your embossing folders...WOW! Toilet paper? Very cool! All three of your cards are really beautiful and I must say, you have inspired me to take out my embossing folders for a play :) I can see you're having a lot of fun with your crafting friends...I'm looking forward to your next session! xx
An amazing trio of cards Loll, and i love the different uses of the embossing folders - you have inspired me!
Stay safe
Blessings
Maxine
Wow 3 amazing cards! I love the double embossing and I've been thinking of getting those EP folders so now I'm sold! Is the toilet paper scented? What a fun card! The AI card is a real stunner too!
So happy that you are enjoying your get togethers Lolly - and what wonderful cards - love them all but the AI one goes to the top of the list for me - just WOW!
xx
Oh my they are amazing! I love the E/Fs you chose for the double embossing... a perfect compliment. The torn paper looks so beautiful and the foil is so rich and stunning!
Wow Loll, these are all stunning! I love the idea of double embossing. The details on that card are fabulous and I love the beautiful die cut flowers you added. Beautiful coloring!! Who knew TP could be so versatile?? It really does look like home made paper. Beautifully done! The metallic card is definitely one I want to try. All three of your cards are beautiful and inspiring!!
Beautiful cards and surprising with the TP.

Loll, Three beautiful cards, but the alchool ink in the foil paper is just gorgeous. Love it. Fun to craft with all of you. See you next week.
Wow Loll, your cards are gorgeous, love the depth of color and embossing on the foil one! and what a great idea to just tear the toilet paper, gives a great look! And your double embossing is also fantastic, love the wood planks! thanks for sharing so much with what to do with EF! You and Julia give great tutorials!
All 3 of these cards are just great. I am so enjoying seeing all the embossing folders being used at the moment as we so often forget about them. 3 wonderful different techniques showcased here. Thanks for the inspiration. I have been meaning to use that toilet paper technique ever since watching a video about it several weeks ago. Where does the time go? xx
Wow, Loll ... what fantastic cards ... such delicious depth and texture in all three! They're each so different too ... and so eyecatching ... wonderful inspiration from your zoom crafting session! Hugs, Anita :)
The double embossed card is gorgeous and both embossings stand out so well. Using toilet paper is a hoot but it sure makes a good impression. Your alcohol ink panel is awesome. The impression and colors are outstanding. This is a great way to give our embossing folders some love.
Oh, my word, look at all these gorgeous cards! You chose some beautiful folders to combine for your first card, and the die is amazing the way you colored it. Way cool to emboss on toilet paper. In the past I did this with wet TP and then pressed a stamp into it. Your metallic AI panel on the last card is so beautiful. Such a fabulous blend of colors which I absolutely love!
Sounds like you had another fun zoom craft session, Loll! All three cards are gorgeous with wonderful textures and colors!
I'm especially impressed with the toilet paper embossing! It looks like washi and I'd love to try it myself. Thank you for your inspiration!
Hideko xx
